Within the framework of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) 2025 Tourism Capital events, the ‘Local Horse Races’ organized by Yakutiye Municipality took everyone’s breath away.. The citizens of Erzurum showed great interest in Yakutiye’s horse race event. The race, in which 3-4 horses competed and was organized in 3 categories, was held on a 2,200-meter-long snow-covered field. While the horse races held on the snow were a scene of great excitement, the horses that occasionally got stuck in the snow and fell brought hearts to their mouths.
Kadir Taşdemir’s horse named “Çatlı” from Azize Şengel Equestrian Sports Club did not give up the race despite its rider falling to the ground and came to the finish line in first place. However, since the rider left Kadir Taşdemir behind, this first place was not taken into consideration. Yakutiye Mayor Mahmut Uçar stated that they will continue to support and sustain equestrian sports as they have in the past.
At the end of the races; In Group A, Resul İspirli from Çayırtepe Equestrian Sports Club, Onur Korkmaz from Azize Şengel Equestrian Sports Club in Group B and Gökhan Bilgin from Genç Dadaşlar Equestrian Sports Club in Group C came first. Cups and awards were given to the athletes who ranked.

We believe that this organization, which we organized in order to protect and keep alive the place of our horses, one of the most important symbols of our ancient culture throughout history, in our lives, plays an important role in transferring our cultural heritage to future generations.
